90 Plus Series Furnaces: Upflow Models UGEA, UGEB, Downflow Model UGKA, Horizontal Model UGJA

Technical Service Bulletin #TS-0904-007 was published in September 2004 to address secondary heat exchanger obsolescence issues related the subject furnaces (Individual primary cells will still be available for a few more years, but heat cell assemblies have been discontinued). A good will allowance of $275 was offered to assist customers in the purchase of appropriate Ruud branded replacement parts for those who experienced a primary or secondary heat exchanger loss.

The bulletin terminated all previous Product Support Programs (PSPs). Bulletin TS-0904-007 became effective on October 1, 2004 and expired May 31, 2006.

We are pleased to announce that this special Product Support Program is being extended through December 31, 2006. Many of these models will be at the end of their standard warranty period by the end of 2006. Starting on January 1, 2007 and extending through the final verifiable customer warranty date of the subject products, the goodwill allowance will expire and a $150 (suggested retail value) credit will be established for all subject model heat exchangers, as provided under our original warranty terms. This credit will be applied using the same procedure as specified below.

This bulletin does not eliminate any of the original value of the heat exchanger, it simply reverts from our special goodwill Product Service Program to the standard warranty retail value. Please pass this information to your customers, so that they identify and resolve any related customer issues. We believe this advanced notice should help ease any potential customer concerns and provide service professionals adequate time to respond satisfactorily.

For proper credit and tracking, each warranty claim (and associated discount) must:

  • Be submitted as an E-warranty Claim
  • Record #: NSD-0607 in the “Authorization” section of E-warranty, Box #9.

The following are required to be sent to the Ruud Warranty Department before credit can be processed:

  • Original Furnace Data Tag
  • Copy of the customer invoice showing the Ruud branded replacement equipment, including model and serial numbers, re-badge information where an ICECO product is used, and the appropriate discount based on the program dates shown above.

No credit will be provided without the specific information listed above.

Please provide this information to your customers immediately so they can take full advantage of this extended opportunity to satisfy customers.

LAST DATE FOR $275 GOODWILL ALLOWANCE: December 31, 2006

Sincerely,
